To stay current in what other training organizations are doing, I recently attended a Disney Keys program. In support of the whole concept of relevance and innovation, they encourage all of their employees to move from just "meeting expectations" to "exceeding expectations" by making small service improvements in the work they do. They call it "plussing up". These are low or no cost improvements that don't require permission from management. This effort aligns itself with your thoughts above. Everyone is involved and they play off of each others ideas to make themselves more innovative in the services and products they deliver. It seems like these are small efforts when looked at individually, but they are very relevant in a continuously changing industry that is challenged daily by the threat of obsolescence. Something to keep in mind if you want to do encourage innovation from your people on a more personal level.
